This weekend our family experienced a life changing moment in time.  Our oldest daughter made covenants and promises to God and her best friend and created another eternal family.

What a beautiful experience!

Although it is not popular in modern society, my husband and I believed it best to teach our daughters that marriage will have a positive impact on their life.

We believe the Bible says truth when it tells us, “And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” (Genesis 2:18)

The best definintion for "help meet" that I have heard says that it means "equal to" each other.

These two young adults are equals.  They are prepared to help each other and support one another through their life experiences.  They are better together then they are separate.  Their marriage will benefit others as well.

The State of our Unions Marriage in America 2012 states, “Marriage is not merely a private arrangement; it is also a complex social institution. Marriage helps to unite the needs and desires of couples and the children their unions produce” (pg. 6)

Their commitment is so much more than their desire to live their life together.  They are unified in their love of God and family.  They desire to give their future children the best chance at happiness they can.

Some may say they are too young to get married.  I say the odds are stacked in their favor that this marriage will be one that lasts.  Each of these factors below, they rank high on increasing their probability of a lifelong love.

Even though they are young, they have every hope of a good marriage.  Their love is strong.  They have made sacrifices to do things in the order God ordained and science shows gives them the best chance at future happiness.

These two young adults are determined to love and serve one another and work together to build their family.

Elder Dallin H. Oaks says, "In all of this, we should realize that a good marriage does not require a perfect man or a perfect woman. It only requires a man and a woman committed to strive together toward perfection."

Finally, I have to share their “First Look” video created by JD Aerial Photos.   https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9b1vZNtMJwAX3NxTDJTXzFDbXM/view?usp=sharing Don't they glow with adoration and love for one another?!

Please share with me your thoughts about how marriage can benefit families.
